Dan's Tubliss Adventure
(or how I'm getting along with my tubeless motorcycle tires)
My installation tribulations
If you have not already done so, go to the Nuetech site and view the excellent installation video. The gentleman in the video has obviously changed many of these tires and makes it look very easy. And if all goes well, it should be trouble-free. My first installation was not.
It took me three or four tries to get the system to seal when I did the front tire installation. Air was leaking out around the bead and from around the high-pressure valve stem. My rear tire was much easier. It sealed properly on the first try.
So here's what I learned installing my Nuetech tubeless tires:
Nuetech recommends installing their system only with new tires. Mine were both used, but there were no major nicks or damage to the bead.
Use plenty of soapy water. On my second installation (rear) I used ArmorAll and a lot less water that I did on the front and had a lot fewer problems.
The 100-110 psi pressure is critical and your tire will not seal without this much pressure.
Tire sealant is what supposedly makes the Nuetech system "flatproof." If I can go a few years without a flat, I'll be a believer.
