Dan's Tubliss Adventure
(or how I'm getting along with my tubeless motorcycle tires)
So what is the Nuetech tubeless tire thing?
What you're doing with a Nuetech tire system is installing a bicycle tire and innertube around your existing rim. You then install your conventional tire in an "almost" normal fashion (if you haven't done so, click here to go to the Nuetech site and view the installation video). When you inflate the bicycle tube to 110 psi it pushes out and seals and locks your motorcycle tire bead to the rim. This secures the rim (even if the motorcycle tire is flat) and seals the tire chamber off from all those leaky spokes and holes in your rim. What you end up with is a two-pressure system; the conventional tire with normal pressures, and the inner bicycle tube and tire at very-high pressure.
If you look at the photo on the home page you'll see two valve stems. The one on the left is the high-pressure bicycle tube stem. The one on the right is the low-pressure stem for the motorcycle tire chamber and it does double duty as the rim lock.
Since installation, the tires have remained sealed and work normally. I've just finished installing my rear tubeless system and the tire felt different on the first ride. With the same air pressure as I had used with a tube, the tire felt "loose" while riding, more flexible. Was it worth the hassle and expense? Not sure and time will tell.
